Master of Public Health

Are you passionate about health? Committed to making a difference? Interested in improving health outcomes for whole communities, not just individuals? If you answered yes, a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree might be the perfect fit for you.

Public health is an interdisciplinary field rooted in science and social justice that focuses on preventing disease and injury. Public health is not limited to treating patients in clinics and hospitals. Instead, public health practitioners look more inclusively at the behaviors, environment, and policies that help prevent or cause disease and injury. Public health practitioners identify needs, craft interdisciplinary solutions to problems, and implement meaningful change to impact populations. Public health practitioners make a real difference in the lives of others.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign MPH Program combines the benefits of a small program with the resources and opportunities of a leading research university. Our nationally accredited MPH program provides training in the foundational principles of public health with a concentration either in Epidemiology or Health Behavior and Promotion. All students in the program gain hands-on experience in real-world public health settings, preparing them for successful careers after graduation. Our small program size means that students are surrounded by a tight-knit cohort of peers and can easily connect with the supportive faculty. We welcome students from a wide variety of disciplines and training to join our diverse cohort of MPH students. The MPH in Epidemiology is a STEM designated degree with CIP code 26.1309.
