Community Health:

Master of Public Health

Assess community needs. Develop innovative solutions. Implement impactful programs and policies. Focus on prevention. Build stronger, healthier communities.

Applied Practice Experience

Master of Public Health students participate in the Applied Practice Experience (APE) after completion of the six core courses. The APE involves at least 200 hours of working in a public health setting and offers intensive “on the job” experience. Students gain important job skills and learn more about career options in public health.

Second-year MPH students generally complete the APE during the summer between their first and second year of coursework or in the Fall of their second year. BS-MPH students generally complete the APE during the summer after their fifth year. The APE helps students fully discover their career interests while increasing their professional skills, build a stronger resume, and increase their professional network.
